Diagnosis of equine viral arteritis is made through serology and nasal swab. It is also important to detect carrier states in stallions. There is no specific treatment for EVA. Management includes supportive care such as rest from sexual activity and exercise and NSAID’s as pyrexia and edema of the scrotum may have a lasting effect on in the stallion. A vaccine is available in North America. Isolation and quarantine practices will also help prevent the spread of disease.
