Titles with this logo include a reference to the CEFR levels, as a general guide to teachers The CEFR provides a common basis for describing levels of language ability in terms of what a learner ‘can do’ with the language in real-world tasks. English Profile describes the specific knowledge and skills in English that learners need to reach each CEFR level. Our course designers and authors make use of English Profile research to ensure courses are finely tuned to what learners at each level need.

Cambridge Life Competencies

The Cambridge Life Competencies Framework is interwoven through our curriculum. This means that our activities enable learners to develop core 21st century skills without teachers having to completely change their approach or develop anything extra. Find out more about each key area by downloading the competency-specific guides on our website, for free!

What’s new

Activity cards

If you’re looking for ready-to-use classroom resources, explore our new classroom activity cards. Use them to tweak or supplement tasks, and seamlessly integrate the development of learners’ life competencies into your teaching practice.

What’s more, they’re adaptable for use in either face-to-face classes or online interactions.

A focus on Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy underpins the Cambridge Life Competencies Framework. It’s not just about being able to use technology, nor is it a competency that students will simply develop naturally while engaging with digital content. Frequent use of technology alone will not help students recognise a piece of fake news or identify threats while navigating the internet. So, it’s important that as educators, we are aware of this and explicitly include this competency in our classroom practice. We’ve taken the guesswork out of teaching this key life skill in our Digital Literacy booklet.

Creating a positive impact Measuring the impact of our work and proving the value of what we do is something we take very seriously. We carry out impact evaluation to provide insights that help us improve our existing products. We use this insight to design new products which are more relevant to your needs and provide you with the value you are looking for.

Impact in action For many, learning English shapes their future and opens up opportunities to reach their full potential. It’s not just about an exam, but life beyond the classroom too. It’s about individual achievements, dreams, and seeing people succeed.

Watch Abdur’s story

Watch Bingjie’s story

Abdur Rahman

BingJie

from Saudi Arabia

from China

Learning English didn’t always come naturally to Abdur Rahman. But, with dedication and the right resources, he achieved a competitive score in his IELTS exams – despite his goals initially seeming far out of reach. Today, he sees the English language as a gateway to new career choices, new friends and endless prospects. He now dedicates his time to teaching English online, helping thousands of others to grow their worlds. “I’ve always wanted to help people and I felt being a teacher was the best way to do this.”

From a young age, BingJie wanted to work as a Master of Ceremonies – hosting events, meetings and weddings. After struggling to get into university, she signed up to a language centre to improve her English. She eventually went on to study a Business English qualification from Cambridge and now is building a career as a bilingual Master of Ceremonies, just as she always wanted. She also hopes to one day become an English teacher herself, teaching English online. “I can actually say that English has changed my life. English has given me confidence in my daily life and in my work.”
