In some districts, as little as a 1% shift in student attendance can equate to millions of dollars of operating funding. 1 In all districts, its impact is significant. The loss of funding can result in: • Larger class sizes • Fewer advanced classes • Loss of resources, including teachers But the impact goes far beyond funding. When students are chronically absent, everyone in the classroom is affected. 2 • Extra resources are often required to support students who missed lessons. • Additional support services must be identified for students who fall behind. • Teachers take on increased workloads trying to catch up absent students.

• Other students experience disruptions and delays to the learning environment.
