Most people in our area visit the local gro- cery store, examine the meat and purchase what they find suitable for their needs. For those of us involved in the hunting pas- sion we choose to harvest our own meat, moose which is superior meat to store bought beef, free of all hormones or other unknown ingredients. I choose to call it the best meat on the planet. This September
we were most fortunate to obtain a large bull moose weighing 994 pounds eviscer- ated with an antler spread of 51 ½ inches. Our lucky group of six took three moose in the Matane area of Gaspé. Tom Esliger, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge Rummage Sale St. Jude’s Church Ladies Association holds its annual fall rummage sale October 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at 372 Geneviève St., Hawkesbury. Rock And Bowl The Hawkesbury Minor Baseball Associa- tion is organizing a Rock n’ Bowl fundraiser Saturday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Olympia Bowl in Hawkesbury. The Rock and Bowl is for adults only. Teams will bowl in a party atmosphere which will include lively music and disco lights. Door prizes will also be drawn. Monies raised will help alleviate the registration costs for local kids next summer. Those interested in register- ing themselves or a team are asked to con- tact Raymond Bicker at 613-632-0263. Community Breakfast A breakfast in aid of the Knights of Co- lumbus L’Ascension Council #9952 will be held October 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St-Alphonse-de-Liguori Church, 470 Main St., Hawkesbury.
