Managing emotions in action

Have you ever experienced frustrations while at school? The following case illus- trates a student who became frustrated after his GPA dropped below 2.0, resulting in academic probation. He also felt discouraged because he could not proceed with his degree plan. This student has two choices: • The first choice is to give up and continue living with his frustrations. • The second choice is to address and manage his frustrations reflectively using the RPI technique (see Figure 8.5). ► To address his frustration through reflection, this student decided to adopt the Reflect, Perceive and Improve (RPI) methodology.
