NEGOTIATION

Negotiation role-play (10 mins) Activity: In pairs, choose one of the following scenarios and try to reach an agreement with your partner within 5 minutes. 1- Group Project Roles You both want to be the presenter in your group project. How will you decide who gets the role? 2- Weekend Trip Budget You’re planning a trip with friends. One wants to plan a luxurious plan, the other prefers a budget-friendly option. How would you agree on a program? 3- Course Swap You and a classmate are trying to enroll in a popular course. Only one seat remains. One of you is willing to swap another class in return. Negotiate the trade. 4- Deadline Extension You are a student negotiating with a professor for a project deadline extension. One of you plays the professor, the other the student. 5- Presentation Order Your professor allows students to choose their presentation order. You want to present early and get it over with, but your partner prefers to go last after observing others. Decide

together when to present. Post-activity discussion:

1.What negotiation strategy did you use, and why? 2.How did it feel to negotiate under time pressure?

3.What was the most challenging part of the negotiation? 4.Were you satisfied with the final outcome? Why or why not? 5.What would you do differently if you negotiated that scenario again?
