PROBLEM SOLVING

How to use mind maps methodologically? Methodologically, you can use the following three-phase model ( Write, Think and Divide ): Write down the main problem within a frame in the center of a blank sheet of paper. Think about the different aspects of the problem and write them on the paper. Then, make connections between elements by drawing lines that demonstrate similarities and differ- ences across ideas. Divide each element of the main problem into sub–problems and link them with lines as well. With this method, you will have a map to help you find a solution to the main problem. 1.5 IMPORTANCE OF DRAWING A TIMELINE FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS

What does “timeline” mean? Time is an important dimension in the process of solving problems. Some problems are ur- gent and require immediate solutions; for example, when a machine in a factory stops work- ing and the entire production process is disrupted, there may not be enough time to plan. However, most problems are not so urgent, and the steps to solve them may be planned in advance and accomplished over days, weeks or even months. Drawing a timeline to solve a problem or execute a project shows the path that determines the sequence of phases to be followed according to their precedence in implementation.
