CRITICAL THINKING
2.7 ACTIVITY
Activity
Critical thinking in action
Option 1: Critical thinkers are usually analytical and evidence oriented. In light of this state- ment, participants are assigned to groups. Each group is assigned a case study re- lated to one of the national petrochemical companies. The trainer will provide a case study package and guidelines. Trainees have to critically analyze the case, answer analytically all provided questions and come up with viable evidence– based solution to the addressed problem. Option 2: “Analyze the Headline” Applying critical thinking elements and characteristics of critical thinkers, choose a headline from an online/offline news article or social media post that is relevant to your university or country, and answer the following questions about it: • What is the main argument or message of the article/post?
• What assumptions does the writer or speaker make? • Is the evidence provided credible and sufficient? • Can you identify any bias? • What would be a reasoned response to this argument?
