6.3 DIMENSIONS OF DECISION MAKING
The decision making process should take the following dimensions into consideration: • Motivating and Influencing Factors ∘ Both external and internal factors should always be accounted for when making a sound decision. ∘ The decision making process is influenced by both physical and social environments. ∘ Personality traits also play a key role in making appropriate decisions. ∘ Institutions should always consider these variables and create a healthy environment that offers a suitable atmosphere to make appropriate decisions. • Thinking and Analyzing Critical thinking entails a process of thinking through the provided information and analyzing the critical factors that surround it in order to make an appropriate decision. Developing the ability to think critically and analytically enhances the decision making process. • Adapting and Changing An important trait for effective leaders is the ability to adapt to the surrounding environment and workplace. Effective leaders are adaptable, dynamic and make decisions appropriate to the situation. Dynamic leaders are visionary, responsible, and demonstrate strong communi- cation skills, open mindedness and the ability to establish social networks that would have a positive impact on the community.
