Crich Tramway Village

The Peak of Transport Treats Our perfectly packed Peak tour features a relaxing canal cruise through the peaceful Derwent Valley and visits to Crich Tramway Village, Denby Pottery Village, Cromford Mills, Kedleston Hall and the Great British Car Journey museum. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Cromford Cruise & Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mills We begin our day in Cromford, from where we enjoy a return 2 hour narrow boat cruise through the picturesque Derwent Valley. We finish our morning with free time to explore Matlock and have some lunch. In the afternoon we visit Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mills , a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We enjoy a mill and village tour to hear the story of how in the 18th century the valley changed the world with the first successful water powered cotton spinning mill. Day 3 Denby Pottery Village & Kedleston Hall This morning we make our way to Denby Pottery Village, home to the largest selection of Denby stoneware in the world. We embark on the Denby Discovery and Museum Experience , starting with the Discovery Experience where we find out how the beautiful pottery is hand-crafted from ‘clay to cup’, followed by a visit to the Museum where we discover 200 years of fascinating Denby history. Our experience also includes a hot drink and cake at Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro. This afternoon we visit Kedleston Hall , an 18th century mansion and seat of the Curzon family. Inside, we discover luxurious Adam interiors, state rooms and the family’s collection of fine art and furniture, including 1,000 objects from across the Asian continent. Outside, we can stroll the beautiful pleasure grounds and parkland, also designed by Robert Adam. Day 4 Great British Car Journey & Crich Tramway Village We spend this morning at the fascinating Great British Car Journey , a car museum celebrating an era when British innovation was at the forefront of a transport revolution. We explore more than 130 vehicles as we discover the history of British motoring, from the legendary Austin 7 to the magnificent Mini and Metro. In the afternoon we visit Crich Tramway Village , a period village museum where we can enjoy travelling along the traditional village street on a vintage tram, viewing the exhibitions and marvelling at the spectacular views. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
