The Spirit of Belfast: Stunning Scenery & Maritime History Our new tour is a real Northern Ireland treat, with a day in Belfast’s cracking Titanic Quarter to visit HMS Caroline and sample the wares of Titanic Distillers, and fascinating guided tours at both the Ulster Transport Museum and Montalto House – with a tasty afternoon tea included at the latter! We also soak in some of the area’s famed landscapes with a beautiful cruise (keep your eyes peeled for puffins, seals and lighthouses) and a memorable journey along the breathtaking Antrim Coast Road. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We spend today in Belfast’s famous Titanic Quarter, beginning with a visit to HMS Caroline , a First World War ship restored as a fascinating floating museum. We step aboard to experience life at sea during the war, discovering 100 years of history and exploring the Captain’s Quarters, the Engine Room and the Drill Hall. Don’t miss the interactive displays where we can get hands on, steering the ship, cracking codes, signalling ships and launching torpedoes! After free time for lunch in the Titanic Quarter, we visit Titanic Distillers , located at Thompson Dock where the Titanic once stood. Here, we embark on the guided Signature Tour , experiencing the workings of the distillery and the sights and sounds of the historic Pumphouse. We finish with a tasting of the award-winning Irish spirits. Day 3 Ballycastle Cruise & Scenic Antrim Coast Drive We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 HMS Caroline & Titanic Distillers Today we travel to Ballycastle Harbour from where we embark on a 2 hour cruise going in search of puffins, seals and lighthouses! We hear stories from our guides as we sail, taking in the beautiful scenery and two of the lighthouses on Rathlin Island. The island boasts Northern Ireland’s largest seabird colony, with more than 100,000 seabirds, including puffins, nesting on the cliffs from April to August. Back on dry land, we enjoy a scenic journey along the spectacular Antrim Coast Road, part of the Causeway Coastal Route famed for its dramatic sea and cliff views. The Antrim Coast section has been named among the world’s most spectacular driving routes, so we’re in for a treat as we travel from Ballycastle to Larne. Day 4 Ulster Transport Museum & Montalto Estate This morning we encounter amazing feats of engineering at the Ulster Transport Museum , home to one of the most comprehensive transport collections in Europe, including locomotives, horse-drawn carriages, vintage motorbikes, cars and more. We enjoy a guided tour , celebrating the history of invention and discovering how our lives and communities have always been in motion. This afternoon we head to the fabulous Montalto Estate , enjoying an exclusive guided History Tour of Montalto House, which is not open to the public. As we explore the grandeur of this 18th century Georgian mansion, we admire the rooms and collections of original art and antiques, discovering the rich history of the estate. Our tour finishes in The Chinese Room, where we enjoy a traditional afternoon tea – what a treat! Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
Clare says… “I was lucky enough to visit the Ulster Transport Museum, a truly superb attraction,
particularly for our target market. The museum tells the story of transport and social change and I could not believe the number of amazing galleries to explore – Rail, Tram and Road galleries full of 40 full-size railway vehicles, trams including the Giants Causeway tram built
in 1882, and vehicles from 1903. There is also a Titanic exhibition in one of the galleries. It’s all so interesting and a real gem of a visit.”
