WALES

Tenby

Beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast, Castle & Cathedral Pembrokeshire has it all – stunning scenery, a spectacular coastline with miles of perfect sandy beaches, great attractions and a very warm Welsh welcome. The scenery on its own is fabulous, but to spoil you even more, we also take in Tenby, Pembroke Castle and St Davids, the smallest city in the UK! PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Cardigan Today, after a leisurely breakfast we have the morning to relax and soak in the stunning panorama at our wonderful hotel. In the afternoon we visit the ancient market town of Cardigan on the River Teifi estuary. Our first port of call is Cardigan Castle for a 1 hour guided tour before we explore the castle remains and stunning Grade II listed gardens full of rare plant species at our own pace. Perfect for groups, the castle plays host to a range of permanent and temporary exhibitions to enjoy. We will then be free in Cardigan to explore the narrow streets and traditional shops of this ancient town at our leisure. Day 3 Tenby We spend a delightful day exploring the quintessential seaside town of Tenby whose narrow streets wind down from the medieval centre to the picturesque harbour, framed by pastel painted cottages. Wander through the charming, cobbled streets and take time out to watch the world go by from a quaint café. Enjoy a stroll along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for stunning views or relax with an ice cream on one of Tenby’s glorious golden sandy beaches. Alternatively, you could take a (privately booked) boat trip to the tranquil monastic Caldey Island. Day 4 St Davids Today, we visit charming St Davids, the smallest city in Britain. We head directly for St Davids Cathedral , a real beauty amongst places of worship. We can marvel at the Rose window in the southwest nave as well as the unique wooden carved ceiling, made in the 1530s from Welsh oak. Afterwards we spend time at leisure strolling around the picturesque lanes and browsing the interesting little shops, with a visit to The Bench Ice Cream parlour a must (organic milk provided by the local cows!). Other attractions include the Oriel y Parc Gallery, which as well as displaying national works of art, contains plenty of useful information for visitors. There is also a good local market held here on Thursday mornings from April to the end of September. For the more adventurous, why not enjoy a (privately booked) boat trip to learn more about the caves and wildlife around this beautiful bay? Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
