Legendary Vale of Llangollen Steeped in myths and legends, the ancient Welsh town of Llangollen is our focus for this fantastic tour. Highlights include a leisurely horse-drawn canal boat cruise along the beautiful clear waters of the Llangollen Canal to the aptly named Horseshoe Falls, a trip on the Llangollen heritage railway and a visit to mighty Chirk Castle. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Llangollen & Horse Drawn Canal Trip After breakfast, we enjoy time at leisure in Llangollen before we experience a 2 hour relaxing horse-drawn canal boat cruise , admiring the Chain Bridge across the River Dee and marvelling at the manmade Horseshoe Falls, a striking feature on the river, whilst gliding along one of the most beautiful lengths of canal you will ever see. Day 3 Llangollen Railway & Chester This morning, we head for Llangollen Railway , which is primarily a steam hauled heritage railway. Our 90 minute return journey begins beside the Dee River Bridge in the town centre and continues for 10 miles upstream to Carrog station, from where we enjoy spectacular views over the River Dee. We enjoy some free time at Carrog station before we board our train back to Llangollen. In the afternoon, we spend time at leisure in the historic city of Chester. Day 4 Chirk Castle We travel to the mighty medieval fortress of Chirk Castle this morning, which reveals 400 years of changing tastes and fashions in its lavishly furnished rooms. We have free time for lunch in the historic kitchen before strolling through the beautiful gardens – stand on the terrace and admire the 18th century ha-ha at the bottom of the garden, which affords stunning views over the Cheshire and Salop Plains. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.

Riding High – the Stream in the Sky Our hotel is ideally situated for visiting attractions in North Wales and Chester. With visits to the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, historic Chester, Llangollen and a boat trip on the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct canal, our tour explores the highlights of this beautiful area. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Chester We spend today at leisure in the historic city of Chester which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1,000 year old cathedral and 700 year old unique shopping rows. Visit the cathedral (free entry) and its 13th century refectory before heading to the High Cross at midday (11am on race days) to hear the Town Crier’s public proclamations (Tues - Sat Jun - Aug). In the afternoon, we enjoy a 30 minute return river cruise on the River Dee, sailing upstream, under the suspension bridge to the city limits. Day 3 Mold & Llandudno Wednesday is market day in Mold, so after breakfast we make the short journey to the town to enjoy a quick stroll around its popular street market, one of the biggest and best in North Wales, held since 1808! From here, we enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the ‘Queen of Welsh’ resorts, Llandudno, with its wonderful beaches and lovely wide promenade. While here we could enjoy a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tram (local payment only). Day 4 Llangollen & Pontcysyllte Aqueduct We have free time this morning in Llangollen. In the afternoon, we enjoy a 2 hour motorised canal boat trip on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, taking us along a five mile stretch of the Llangollen Canal. Our trip includes crossing the world famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, known as the ‘Stream in the Sky’. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
