Cruising & Milling Around Devon From our hotel on the outskirts of Exeter, we delve into Devon with some fascinating visits, including the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, Killerton and Coldharbour Mill. We also spend time in Exeter, Exmouth and Topsham, and enjoy a relaxing River Exe Cruise and a

scenic coastal train journey. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Exeter & Exeter Cathedral

Topsham Quay

Today we make our way to Exeter. A city rich in history, there is plenty to occupy us, including the imposing Roman wall, beautiful quayside with shopping opportunities and award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum. We also visit the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, where we embark on a 90 minute Lady Chapel and Bishop’s Palace Garden Tour . We discover the history of the cathedral and stories of the people who have lived and worshipped here over the centuries, as well as some of the city’s history. See the Lady Chapel from the inside and out, hear a tale of political murder and admire the private gardens of the Bishop of Exeter. Day 3 Exmouth, River Exe Cruise & Topsham This morning we travel to Exmouth and enjoy some time on the pleasant seafront before boarding a River Exe cruise . Sailing on calm and sheltered waters, our skipper will provide us with live commentary on the history of the area as we cruise to Topsham Quay. Upon arrival, we have time at leisure to explore the quaint Devon town of Topsham, with its museum, Antiques Centre, selection of cafés, shops and boutiques and distinctive 17th century town houses. We then catch the train back to Exmouth , enjoying the picturesque coastal route from a different perspective. (Please note, depending on tide timings, this day may need to be changed to another day or We begin our day with a visit to Killerton , an 18th century house given to the National Trust by British politician Sir Richard Acland. Set in 6,400 acres of working farmland, woods, parkland, cottages and orchards, we enjoy an introductory tour before exploring further at leisure. This afternoon we travel to Coldharbour Mill , one of the oldest woollen mills in the UK, having been in continuous production since 1797. Thursdays are ‘Production Days’, so it’s a great day to visit – we can explore the working factory and see the production team in action! We enjoy a guided tour, reliving the sights and sounds of the industrial revolution and admiring the textiles, knitting yarn and hand-woven rugs. (Please note, on event days at Coldharbour Mill, the guided tour is not available and there will be a small additional charge.) Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home. the excursions completed in reverse.) Day 4 Killerton & Coldharbour Mill
