Jacobite Steam Train on the Glenfinnan Viaduct

Scenic Scotland Our updated tour is brimming with the picture-perfect views and stunning landscapes for which Scotland is so famous. Travelling by cruise, road and rail, we tick off some of the country’s most iconic sights and attractions, including the Jacobite Steam Train, Inveraray Castle, Loch Ness, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Falkirk Wheel and the Forth bridges. Feast your eyes on some of Scotland’s breathtaking treasures on this gem of a tour.

PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive in the Trossachs at our first hotel, The Winnock, in time for dinner. Day 2 Firth of Forth Cruise & Falkirk Wheel

This morning we head to South Queensferry from where we enjoy a 90 minute Three Bridges circular cruise with guided commentary. Our cruise takes in spectacular views of the Forth bridges, the Edinburgh skyline to the south, Fife to the north and the island of Inchcolm with its medieval abbey. In the afternoon we head to the Falkirk Wheel , a fascinating feat of engineering connecting the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. We see how this iconic rotating lift transports boats 35m above, to the start of the Union Canal. Day 3 Inveraray Castle Today we travel through the Trossachs, stopping at Inveraray Castle & Gardens for a visit. As the ancestral seat of the Chief of Clan Campbell, this is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes with plenty to see over three floors. Highlights include the Clan Room, which offers an insight into the fascinating history of Clan Campbell; the French influenced Tapestry Drawing Room with original Beauvais tapestries; and the Victorian Room, which serves as a tribute to the marriage between HRH Princess Louise – daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert – and the Marquess of Lorne. This afternoon we continue our travels to Fort William and check into our hotel.

It is possible to replace today’s itinerary with a voyage on the West Highland Line from Glasgow to Fort William instead. Please note, this is a world famous scenic train journey but it is a commuter service operated by Scotrail and not a heritage railway. Please speak to the sales team for details.

Day 4 Jacobite Steam Train This morning we embark on a journey described as the greatest railway journey in the world, on the famous Jacobite Steam Train , which will take us on an 84 mile return journey from Fort William to Mallaig . Along the way, we encounter spectacular scenery and travel across the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct’s magnificent 21 arches, featured in many films. Special booking terms are required for the Jacobite Steam Train which includes a non-refundable deposit. It is possible to book a Scotrail service that uses the same route as the Jacobite without the deposit conditions. Please speak to the sales team for details. Day 5 Loch Ness Cruise Today we travel to Fort Augustus to embark on a 50 minute cruise of Loch Ness , brimming with history and monster tales. Departing from Fort Augustus on the southern shores, we attempt to track down the world’s shyest monster whilst admiring the loch’s beautiful castles, monuments and scenery. Sit back and relax as we take in Cherry Island, the loch’s only island, and the striking Fort Augustus Abbey. Back on dry land we re-board our coach and head to Pitlochry.

It is possible to replace today’s itinerary with a voyage on the Kyle to Inverness Line from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness instead.
