Our History
Cricket at St Lawrence College has come a long way in recent years. Not only have increased pupil numbers pushed levels of participation in cricket much higher, but the schools new approach and ethos have driven success further still. The standard and the amount of coaching available has been central to pupils’ success. St Lawrence College has created a Junior Development Programme, Cricket Academy, a Cricket Sports Excellence Programme and adopted other elite practices such as video analysis and one to one coaching. Children are now being taught by high quality specialist coaching and better equipment has made a big impact on participation and performance to. The bowling machines enable pupil’s to regularly face 300+ balls in the nets every week. Cricket covers enable us to play more games without cancellations due to rain. Success has started to breed success.
Our aspirations, current challenges & how you can help
Our aim is to be one of the strongest cricketing schools in the South East. We already play some of the best schools in the South East and regularly compete. As we have more pupils playing and standards increasing, we need more equipment at a higher quality to raise individual performance levels even further. For example if six teams are training on an afternoon and only two bowling machines are available, the majority of players will be unable to use it. If you believe in fulfilling the cricketing potential of every child who plays the game, you can help them achieve this whatever our ability to give.
