ROCK HILL (SC) ALUMNI CHAPTER The Rock Hill (SC) Alumni Chapter had the honor of supporting the honorable Congressman Hakeem Jeffries during his visit to Rock Hill, SC, as he attended the event sponsored by Clinton College to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (pictured above) The chapter also visited the Kounter Restaurant (pictured below) to reflect on the efforts of the “Friendship Nine,” a group of brave individuals who played a significant role in the civil rights movement by challenging segregation in their local area. DNC Chairman Jamie Harrison was in attendance as well to pay tribute to their historic sacrifice. The chapter was not finished with their active role in the community as they participated in the 43rd Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade sponsored by Western York NAACP. They were joined by members of their Kappa League group and brothers from the Winthrop University Chapter, the Lambda Gamma.
