you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations; ' ■ —Frances de Sales. Fellowship “i.haye called you friends” (John 15:15). Wonderful thought! that God should desire fellowship with its; and that He whose love once made Him the Man of sorrows may now be made the Man of joys by the loving devo tion of human hearts! Nothing hum bles the soUl like sacred and intimate communion with the Lord. —J. Hudson Taylor. Essential Love “And if I have all faith, so as to re move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing” (1 Cor, 13:2, R. V.). Can there be. faith- without love? Yes, I believe there can be. You will sometimes find p eo p i e who have strong convictions, a firm' belief in God and in the power of prayer so that they almost can remove moun tains, and yet whose lives never have been mellowed; whose attitudes are harsh, whose words are sharp, who seemingly neither love nor beget love, and of them it is said, “If they have not love, they are nothing.” —Milo F. Jamison. 8. 9.

Hold Up Your Cup
I
F o r t h e International:
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee” (2 Cor. 12:9). Dear child, God does not say today, “Be strong.” He knows your strength is spent; He knows how long The road has been, how weary you have grown, For He who walked the earthly roads alone— Each bogging lowland, and each rug ged hill— Can understand, and so He says, “Be still, And know that I am God.” The hour is late, And you m u s t Test awhile, and you m u s t wait Until life’s empty reservoirs fill up -As slow fain fills an empty up turned cup. Hold up your cup, dear child, for God to fill. He only asks today that you be still. —Selected. 11. Spasmodic Prayer “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psa. 46:1). “But thè end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” (1 Pet. 4:7). A womhn who faced the sudden, serious illness of her children spoke of the e x p e r i e n c e thus: “I just s h r i e k e d to the Almighty!” . . . Prayer was to her a hasty refuge in time of panic. . . The guaranteéd en joyment of effectual prayer, however, is the privilege of one 'who knows God in Jesus Christ, and goes not spasmodically, but regularly, to God as his heavenly Father, and finds in prayer true communion with God. Is that your case?—B. Reeve. 12. Rest for the YVeary “Còme unto me, all ye thàt labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). Return to that rest which Christ gives to the we^ry and heavy-laden. Return to thy Noah; His name signi fies lesti as the dove, when she found no rest, returned to the ark. I know no word more proper to close our!eyes with at night when wè go to sleep, nor to close, them with ih death, that long sleep, than .this, “Return to thy rest, O my soul.”—Matthew Henry! 13. In Earnest “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the. name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Col. 3:17). We are living in an earnest age. All the forces of human Intelligence are intensely alive. Be in earnest. Everything in earth and heaven and

A NEW BOOK BY DAN GILBERT
es Un-American ism in High School Textbooks” This is the most complete survey of our high schools which has yet been published. It shows how un-
American and anti-Bible propaganda has been spread through high school textbooks. It also tells parents and pastors what we can do about it, how this condition can be corrected ! For the defense of America and the defense of the faith and patriotism of American youth, every Christian American should know the facts and act upon them ! “ UN-AMERICANISM IN HIGH SCHOO L TEXTBOOKS“ • ' by Dan Gilbert—-35c per copy » order from THE DANIELLE PUBLISHERS 4766 Norma Drive Diego, Calif.
