HAVE A LAUGH!

DON’T LET RAIN DAMPEN YOUR DRIVE

HOW TO STAY SAFE ON WET ROADS THIS SPRING As the rain begins to pour this April, driving safely should be at the forefront of everyone's mind. Sure, we adjust our driving habits for snow and ice, but it's just as crucial to adapt to April showers, too. Let's dive into some essential driving tips that can make all the difference when navigating wet roads. First and foremost, your windshield wipers need to be in top-notch condition. It's a simple check that many overlook until it's too late. If your wipers aren't effectively clearing the water off your windshield, your visibility is compromised, and so is your safety. Before the storm hits, ensure your wipers are working well and your wiper fluid is topped off. Remember, the grime from the road doesn't take a break during the rain; if anything, it becomes more of an issue. Visibility can plummet rapidly during a rainstorm, sometimes to the point where the road ahead is barely visible. While it might seem intuitive to switch on your flashers and pull to the side, this actually increases your risk of a side collision. Instead, find a safe exit and park in a well-lit parking lot until the worst passes. The speed limit? It's for ideal conditions. When it's pouring, driving at the speed limit can be dangerous. If the speed limit is 70 mph, consider reducing your speed to 50 mph or lower depending on the intensity of the rain. It's not about how fast you can go. It's about how safely you can arrive at your destination. Additionally, consider the condition of your vehicle, especially your tires. Not every car is equipped with tires that handle wet roads well. Understand the capabilities of your vehicle and adjust your speed accordingly. When in doubt, slow down. The goal is to grip the road, not to test your car's limits. We'd rather you stay safe than become a client due to a rain-related accident. From an employer's perspective, I always emphasize to my team that it's better to arrive late and safe than not arrive at all. Anticipate delays and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. April's showers might bring May flowers, but they also bring slippery roads and reduced visibility. Let's prioritize safety and adapt our driving to match the conditions.
