From the pressures of work and school to the demands of personal relationships and societal expectations, navigating the complexities of modern living can often feel like an uphill battle. In this fast-paced and ever-changing world, stress manifests in various forms, taking a toll on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. As Stress Awareness Month unfolds, it serves as a reminder to prioritize our psychological and physical well-being amidst life’s many challenges. In a world where stress has become an all-too- familiar companion, finding ways to mitigate its impact is crucial for maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life. One avenue to eliminate stress is by staying active — a powerful antidote to the pressures that weigh upon us. Dedicating time to physical activity strengthens our bodies and nurtures our minds, offering a respite from the relentless demands of daily life. During Stress Awareness Month, we embark on a journey toward greater resilience, vitality, and inner peace.

during cheat days is also a big helping hand. Having one cheat day a week helps me maintain a healthy diet without feeling overwhelmed. As for sleep, one of the most critical factors is that I get around seven hours each night. When I get enough sleep, I’m ready to tackle whatever daily challenges come my way. In an age where screens dominate our daily lives, there’s a growing awareness of the importance of disconnecting from our devices and reconnecting with the natural world. Stepping outside allows us to breathe in the fresh air, soak up the sun’s warmth, and engage our senses in nature’s sights, sounds, and scents. I am lucky my children love being outside with me through sports, climbing trees, swimming, or exploring the neighborhood with their friends. Encouraging physical activity over screen time is a priority in our household, as we all benefit from the rejuvenating effects of spending time in nature. Both of my kids love to play sports, but their favorite sport has to be basketball. They spend a lot of time with the neighborhood kids just playing. By embracing healthy coping mechanisms, such as staying active, practicing mindfulness, and nurturing meaningful connections, we can navigate the complexities of our world with grace and resilience. Let us support one another and strive to create environments that promote stress-free living.

The loss of a loved one is undeniably challenging, regardless of the circumstances. However, when there are suspicions that the death resulted from the wrongful or negligent actions of another individual, coping with the loss becomes even more daunting. Pursuing a wrongful death claim can offer a sense of closure to your family by holding the responsible party accountable for their actions. Familiarizing yourself with the fundamentals of Missouri’s wrongful death laws is essential, as it empowers you to navigate this emotionally taxing period while understanding your rights. A wrongful death claim can be viewed as a legal avenue where surviving family members have the opportunity to seek financial compensation if the deceased individual would have been entitled to damages in a personal injury lawsuit. In Missouri, the parties deemed responsible for the accident in a personal injury scenario can still be held liable for their actions after the death of the injured person. NAVIGATING FATAL NEGLIGENCE SERVE UP JUSTICE
In a heartwarming tale of courage and resilience, a pit bull named Kilo defied the odds after being shot in the head while bravely protecting his owner. The incident unfolded when an intruder invaded Kilo’s home. In a shocking turn of events, Kilo’s instinct to shield his owner led to a life-threatening injury, but “Super Pitty” survived, capturing many hearts, too. One Saturday evening 12 years ago on Staten Island, a gunman posing as a FedEx deliveryman rang the doorbell of Kilo’s home. He didn’t wait long before he pushed his way into the apartment. Kilo’s human, Justin Becker, told CBS, “He barged in. My first reaction after seeing the gun was to push him out, so I pushed him to the door.” Becker’s girlfriend, Nicole Percoco, had been holding Kilo during this encounter and let him go. Kilo jumped into action, fighting back against the invader, unfortunately getting shot in the fight. Luckily, the bullet just missed Kilo’s skull, entering and exiting right under his ears, said Dr. Gregory L. Panarello, the medical director of South Shore Animal Hospital. After a 40-minute surgery to remove bullet fragments, he was patched up and even given a superhero insignia on his bandage. Three days later, Kilo was up and going on every dog’s favorite pastime: walkies. Kilo’s story is a powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit of canine companions and the strength of their love for us. Even 12 years later, Super Pitty Kilo’s story still spreads love and happiness. Give your pet an extra cuddle tonight so they know just how much you love them! KILO’S AMAZING BRAVERY AND SURVIVAL

In the modern age, where mobility is paramount and roads are bustling with activity, the importance of driving safely cannot be forgotten. Every time we get behind the wheel, we hold not only our own lives but also the lives of others in our hands. Therefore, we must approach driving with a sense of responsibility and respect for the rules of the road. By following these tips, we can create safe roadways for all. PREPARE YOUR VEHICLE. Cold temperatures can alter the way your vehicle runs. When temperatures change, for example, tire pressure decreases. You may need to compensate for this by adding air to your tires to maintain good traction on the road. Before hitting the road, check your vehicle’s fluids, lights, windshield wipers, and other components. BE PATIENT AND SHARE THE ROAD. Missouri roads see a lot of farm equipment traffic, including slow-moving tractors and harvesters, which travel at slower speeds than passenger vehicles. If you get stuck behind a piece of farming equipment, be patient; you should reduce your speed and increase your distance behind the vehicle. Be extra careful when passing — leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the farm machinery while you pass.

resulting in the death of the victim. Negligence, in legal terms, is the failure to exercise reasonable care. In a wrongful death lawsuit, the burden of proof rests with the filing party, known as the plaintiff. This means the plaintiff’s attorney must present evidence to establish the necessary elements of the claim. If you, or someone you know, have recently experienced the loss of a loved one due to an accident and believe that one or more parties are at fault, reach out to a Kansas City wrongful death attorney at Dickerson Oxton for a complimentary case evaluation. WATCH FOR WILDLIFE. Look for animals crossing the road, especially on rural roads in Missouri at dusk and dawn. These are feeding times for animals, and severe accidents are more likely during this time if your paths cross. Remember that this is their home, too! BE CAREFUL IN SCHOOL ZONES. If you must drive through a Missouri school zone, read and obey all posted signs. Decrease your speed and stay alert for pedestrians. Children are likelier to dart into the road and break pedestrian rights-of-way laws than adults. Drive cautiously and be prepared to stop at a moment’s notice. DON’T DRIVE DRUNK. Do your part to protect yourself and others by never drinking alcohol and driving. If you know you are likely to drink at a holiday party or friend get-together, arrange a safe and sober ride home, such as a ridesharing vehicle or taxi. Otherwise, spend the night where you are and drive home in the morning. No matter how careful you are, avoiding vehicle collisions is not always possible. If you are involved in a crash this fall, contact a Kansas City car accident lawyer at Dickerson Oxton for a free consultation about your rights.

Easter Eggs Around the World

An Egg-Cellent Global Tradition
Decorating Easter eggs with paints, dyes, and stickers is a time- honored tradition spanning thousands of years. Many cultures use eggs to symbolize rebirth, renewal, and fertility, and the human need to decorate everything has ensured there are different egg-painting traditions worldwide. Iranian celebrants commemorate Nowruz (Iranian New Year) around the spring equinox by painting eggs and placing them on altars. This tradition comes from ancient Persian and Zoroastrian traditions and has since become a common practice for people regardless of faith.
Eastern Europeans push egg painting to the limit, featuring highly intricate and breathtaking designs. Designs are drawn with pencil on a hollowed-out egg, then using a needle-like stylus called a kistka, those lines are covered in wax. The egg is dyed multiple times in a variety of colors, and more wax is applied in between each color to create a mesmerizing display of color and detail. Some cultures even use raw eggs as part of the challenge. In Ukraine, egg painting season lasts all year, and many households keep a bowl of beautifully decorated eggs for good luck. Their egg-painting pre-dates Christianity, as seen by Ukrainians’ many egg-centered
The Easter egg as we know it today is derived from Jewish tradition, in which a roasted white egg is placed on the seder plate during Passover. Orthodox Christians paint eggs red to symbolize Jesus’ blood. Additionally, some sects of Orthodox Christians take decorated hard-boiled eggs and smack them against another person’s egg. Whoever’s egg doesn’t break is said to have good luck for the coming year.
traditions. For example, some people bury eggs beneath their front door to protect their family’s health. Painting eggs is a tradition in almost every culture. From continent to continent, faith to faith, people grab a brush (or kistka) to give a little white egg some color. In almost every pocket of human civilization, someone’s probably decorating an egg.
