The origins of end grain Originally used extensively in the 19th century to pave busy streets across Europe and Asia, end-grain timber was valued for its ability to withstand relentless, heavy traffic. By the early 20th century, it became a standard flooring solution in factories and workshops, where strength, stability and longevity were essential. Unlike conventional wood surfaces, end-grain is formed by cutting across the growth rings of the tree, revealing the beautiful character of the wood rings and using the densest part of the timber. This structure not only creates a distinctive, unique appearance, but also delivers exceptional performance - offering enhanced durability, impact resistance and natural shock absorption underfoot.
