and public transportation to get you to most places. There are mountains on all sides. Some are more like hills, some are actually mountainous. Tucson is only 62 miles from the Mexican border. Tucson is breathtakingly beautiful. The sunsets are legendary. It is surrounded by 4 mountain ranges and the wildlife is abundant with coyotes, raptors, songbirds, bobcats, mountain lions, and javelinas, to name but a few. The landscape is gorgeous outside the center of the city. There are mountains and lakes within a couple hours by car. Hunting and fishing are popular and there are plenty of places nearby to do both. There are incredibly beautiful hiking trails all over the city such as Pima Canyon. Mount Lemmon is gorgeous, and over 9,000 feet tall. It provides a cool respite from the heat too. And has some stunning views. You are able to hike to the summit, in beautiful pine forests (with ferns!). It is easy to forget you were in the desert just hours beforehand. The big plus, which is a huge one, is the nature; mainly the desert. It is truly spiritual and magical. In Gates Pass, you’ll see the most psychedelic, awe-inspiring sunsets that you’ve ever seen in your life. The desert ecosystem is truly mind blowing. The intense thunderstorms are apocalyptic. EC

In the mood for sandwiches, then you can’t go wrong with Beyond Bread. Fantastic desserts, and some of the best bread made in Tucson. If you have any dental issues, you might opt for their softer breads as some of theirs have quite a tough chew and bite. Great Sandwiches no matter what you try. If you’re looking for inexpensive “dive” restaurant Mexican food, you MUST try El Sur (22nd Street & Craycroft) Try the 3 Tacos Casero, pan fried tacos. Also, if you like Sonoran Style Hot Dogs (hot dogs wrapped in bacon, and topped with beans and other toppings), the place to go is apparently El Guero Canelo. 22nd Street and Oracle, as well as south Tucson. Tucson has become quite a foodie haven, so there are lots to choose from in this town. TUCSON’S SCENERY. Arizona is an incredibly ecologically diverse state, within a few short hours you can drive to serene lakes, huge mountains, and beautiful desert landscapes. There are places with water and falls in the mountains surrounding Tucson, as well. Tucson runs 25 miles from East to west, and about 20 miles north to south. There are bike paths everywhere,

Try the special plate - you don’t get to choose what you’re eating, but if you like adventure, you’ll be rewarded. Mary’s Mexican Food, near downtown. Another must try here would be the Tres Leches Cake. If you want something different with a south of the border flair, you should try Cafe Poca Cosa, located be complete without trying a Sonoran Hot Dog at El Guerro Canelo, which has several locations around town. A local favorite for grinders and frozen lemonade as well as other thirst quenching frozen drinks is Eegees - with probably a dozen or more locations in Tucson, you should be able to find them around town. Pita Jungle, started in Tempe, but now spread to Tucson, California, and other locations is a great place to get some healthy middle eastern “style” food. They also serve wood fired Pizza, as well as their version of burgers. For Dessert, you need to find a Raspados stand, either on the south side, or google the closest location. Think of a combination of ice cream, shaved ice, and fruit, topped with some chili seasoning. Refreshing during summer. A great place for tortillas is Saint
