In 2023, our first cargo flight using SAF was operated. Currently, SAF is used on Istanbul-London cargo flights once a week. In addition to the regular use of sustainable aviation fuel on flights, as one of the signatories of the Global SAF Declaration, which expresses the unity of joint work created by stakeholders in the aviation, space, and fuel sectors for the decarbonization of sustainable aviation fuel, Turkish Airlines demonstrates its commitment to sustainable aviation fuels in combating climate change.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Sustainable aviation fuel plays a key role in Turkish Airlines’ sustainability strategy as one of the cornerstones in reducing the environmental impact of aviation. As one of the most prominent indicators of Turkish Airlines’ commitment to combat climate change, sustainable aviation fuel has been utilized since 2022. The first flight using SAF was operated on the Istanbul Airport-Paris Charles de Gaulle route. Currently used once a week on the Paris, Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Stuttgart, Stockholm, Brussels, and Lyon routes, this fuel is also used on return flights to Istanbul Airport from Lyon, Marseilles, Oslo, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, and Toulouse.
