In 2023, Turkish Airlines joined Türkiye’s first sustainable aviation platform established in cooperation with Boeing and Istanbul Technical University. The platform aims to further advance the decarbonization journey and sustainable transformation of the Turkish
aviation industry, and to increase knowledge and
awareness in this field through training programs and social activities. “Upcycling for the Future” Another effort that demonstrates Turkish Airlines’ commitment to the environment is “Upcycling for the Future.” Under this initiative, cabin crew clothes are recycled in line with the zero waste principle and transformed into products that can be used by children in need. In the first phase of the initiative, cabin crew bags that were used or have completed their useful lives, were transformed into children’s boots. The first distribution of the “Upcycling for the Future” initiative, which was launched with the goal of reaching 10,000 children in 100 schools in the 100 th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, took place in Erzurum on January 6, 2023. Thanks to the voluntary cabin bags donations of cabin crew members, the production of boots continued and the target of 10,000 boots was reached.
