Turkish Airlines aims to become a carbon-neutral airline by 2050 by adding new generation aircraft to its fleet, using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), tapping renewable energy sources, engaging in carbon offsetting, and implementing operational improvements. Turkish Airlines is investing in new generation aircraft that emit 15-20% less carbon compared to older models. The company aims for more than 90% of its fleet to be comprised of new generation aircraft by 2033. Operational improvements are planned to reduce fuel consumption by 5% by 2033.

To reduce its carbon footprint further, Turkish Airlines is expanding the usage of sustainable aviation fuel. In 2023, SAF was utilized on select routes such as Paris, Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Brussels, Stuttgart, Stockholm, Lyon, Marseilles, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, and Toulouse once a week. Turkish Airlines plans to extend the frequency of SAF usage and introduce it on additional destinations. Turkish Airlines aims to derive at least 5% of its new building energy needs in the future from renewable

sources and improve energy efficiency with its nine LEED- certified buildings.
