PRONTO ENGINEERING GROUP WORKED ALONGSIDE LOWRY AND MURPHY TO DELIVER A COMPLEX SOLUTION WITHIN A CHALLENGING BUT ULTIMATELY REWARDING PROGRAMME…
Pronto Engineering Group designed and manufactured the main motor control centre (MCC) installed within the new control room at Derg Water Treatment Works (WTW). A sub-contractor to Murphy, the Camlough firm also supplied a number of smaller local panels controlling, for example, four Zickert scrapers installed within the new clarifier tanks. The main MCC includes all the controls and instrumentation necessary to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the new works using a Siemens S7- 1500 Programmable Logic Controller communicating with intelligent starter sections and proprietary process via Profibus DP. Pronto Engineering Group also provided a comprehensive software design and development service to Murphy for the
project, including drawing up the agreed Functional Design Specification. This detailed design resulted in a number of Profibus DP, Profibus PA, Profinet and Ethernet networks being installed around the works, along with a fibre optic cable link to the existing main works. Working closely with Murphy, Pronto Engineering Group assisted in the commissioning and optimisation of the works, ensuring that a resilient, reliable process fully visible on the site SCADA system was achieved. Pronto Engineering Group Director Gerry Mulgrew was lead engineer on the project. “The new works in Derg WTW has been designed and installed to a very high standard and will provide NI Water with a dependable facility which will ensure a fully compliant water supply for the
