Future Priorities

As our healthcare services face increasing complexity and demand, maintaining a proactive and strategic focus on safety and quality remains essential. Over the next 12 months, NSLHD will advance a series of targeted priorities aimed at improving patient outcomes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. These initiatives are informed by emerging evidence, system-level learnings, and frontline insights, and are aligned with broader state and national health priorities. A selection of key priorities is provided in this chapter, each accompanied by its rationale, intended impact, and implementation approach.

Introducing the Single Digital Patient Record NSW Health is introducing the Single Digital Patient Record, a unified clinical information platform that will transform how patient care is delivered across the NSW Health System. This new system will integrate patient administration, electronic medical records, and laboratory information management into one secure, state-wide solution. With the Single Digital Patient Record, clinicians will be able to access the same up-to-date medical information about a patient in real-time. This ensures a more connected and consistent approach to care. The initiative will be introduced in a phased approach across the state. Northern Sydney and Central Coast Local Health Districts are scheduled to commence using the new platform from November 2026.
