Future Priorities
Building Leadership Capability NSLHD is developing a new leadership framework to strengthen the skills of clinical and non-clinical leaders across all professions. The framework will support leaders to make an impact in five key areas: leading self, teams, services & programs, the organisation and government. Recognising that great healthcare depends on great leadership, NSLHD will bring together 100 leaders for a full-day Leadership Forum. The event will focus on future challenges, encourage fresh thinking, and build stronger connections across the district. To prepare the next generation of senior leaders, NSLHD is also prioritising succession planning
and enhancing leadership development programs. This includes the ongoing Thrive Leadership Program, which is underpinned by the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework and continues to support mid-tier high-potential leaders to be better equipped with appropriate skills, tools and strategies to achieve organisational success. These efforts aim to ensure that future leaders are ready to step into key roles with confidence and capability. Together, these initiatives reflect NSLHD’s commitment to growing strong, future-focused leadership that supports high-quality care and a thriving workforce.
RYDE HOSPITAL Strengthening Cultural Safety: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group
Ryde Hospital is taking an important step toward delivering safer, more culturally responsive care by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group. This initiative will support Ryde Hospital in providing equitable healthcare that respects and reflects the needs, values, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Advisory Group will serve as the hospital’s primary engagement and consultation body, offering strategic and cultural advice to guide planning, care delivery, and service improvement. It will provide a platform for: • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families, and communities,
• Consumers and community members seeking to collaborate with Ryde Hospital. In partnership with the NSLHD Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service, the group will help facilitate shared understanding of future health needs and priorities. This collaboration will ensure that services are designed and delivered in ways that are culturally safe, inclusive, and responsive. The initiative directly supports NSLHD’s strategic priorities to keep people healthy and well, and to deliver safe, high-quality care. By embedding cultural knowledge and lived experience into decision-making, Ryde Hospital aims to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
