“Water is the driving force of all nature.” — Leonardo da Vinci
Texture, more than any single color, denes the new coastal luxury. e most beautiful rooms I studied this season share a tactile richness that invites touch. Boucle upholstery with its so, looped surface. Slubby linen that wrinkles just enough to feel authentic. Woven jute rugs underfoot that ground airy spaces with organic texture. Even small details matter, such as the coarse weave of a decorative pillow or the matte nish of a ceramic vase. In the living room, I replaced several smooth accent pillows with chunky woven designs in sandy neutrals. e shi was subtle yet transformative. e room immediately felt more dimensional. A rope wrapped side table adds sculptural interest beside the sofa, its organic texture contrasting
with the tailored upholstery. A handwoven throw draped casually across the arm introduces soness and depth.
Warm woods have also returned with condence. For years, I leaned into pale driwood nishes almost exclusively. Now, I nd myself drawn to richer oak and even touches of walnut. A carved wood credenza with intricate detailing anchors one wall, its deeper tone grounding the space. A natural oak coee table adds substance against creamy seating. ese warmer nishes prevent the palette from feeling washed out and add a sense of permanence.
