Bringing smart solutions, seamless integration and unrivalled expertise to its electrical installation, JD McGeown Ltd has powered a facility designed to inspire and innovate. Appointed as electrical subcontractor for Ardnashee School & College, the Belfast-based business faced complex challenges ranging from intricate power distribution to advanced lighting and life- safety systems. James McGeown, Managing Director, said, “JD McGeown overcame every obstacle with precision, expertise and innovation. Our work ensured that every classroom, therapy space and facility operated seamlessly, creating a safe and efficient environment for students and staff, and setting new standards for electrical excellence in education.”
Project managed by Phil Quinn, JD McGeown collaborated closely with main contractor Woodvale Construction throughout the 31-month duration of the project, delivering its installation on time, on budget and beyond expectations. “JD McGeown successfully delivered a full electrical installation at Ardnashee, providing tailored systems to meet the complex requirements of the environment,” said Phil. “The project included electrical services for sensory rooms, ceiling hoists, hygiene rooms and a hydrotherapy pool. “AV systems were installed in the main hall, music department and recording studio, while classrooms were fitted with interactive touchscreens. An automated vehicle entrance gate was also installed to enhance site access and security.”
Additional works included full mains infrastructure with harmonic filters and power factor correction units; Category L4 fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, access control across gates, external and internal doors; and CCTV, intruder and accessible area alarms, external lighting and structured cabling. “The project demonstrates JD McGeown’s capability in delivering high- quality, specialist electrical solutions in education settings,” said Phil.
