ARDNASHEE SCHOOL & COLLEGE, DERRY/LONDONDERRY
PAVING Designed as a one-storey campus of interlinking buildings meeting the demands of a diverse body of students in both age and special needs, Ardnashee School & College features a significant exterior perimeter. Having delivered paving solutions for an extensive portfolio of educational campuses, from St Christopher’s Special School in Leinster to the University of Leeds, Kilsaran was sub-contracted to supply paving for the project. Paving & Walling is one of six core sectors in which Kilsaran delivers project solutions, alongside Concrete Products & Aggregates, KPRO Façades & Mortars, Precast, Road Surfacing & Contracting and Materials Recovery & Recycling. Paul Herr oversees the company’s paving and KPRO business units as head of sales for Ireland. Kilsaran has been in business for 61 years and has evolved to become Ireland’s largest independent manufacturer of concrete products. ASPHALT SURFACING Breedon was awarded the subcontract package to install asphalt surfacing in the car parks, footpaths and playgrounds of the new Ardnashee School & College campus. The construction materials group worked closely with main contractor Woodvale Construction throughout the project to ensure the subcontract works were delivered in line with the main programme, and any problem areas such as falls were identified early to eliminate the risk of standing water. This resulted in high-quality surface finishes throughout. John Bradley, Contracts Manager, said, “In order to identify any potential issues prior to commencing on site, Breedon adopts a collaborative working approach on all jobs. This approach worked particularly well on this scheme and led to the delivery of a quality job, on time and on programme.
