An award-winning, family-run business, P&K McKaigue Ltd has more than 50 years of experience in the construction industry. Developing a pragmatic approach to building contracts and project delivery, the contractor has successfully completed a wide range of construction projects for the public and private sectors in partnership with a strong network of clients and architects. Recognition for its excellence in recent years has included RICS Refurbishment & Revitalisation project of the Year 2024 and CEF Restoration Project of the Year 2022 for St Comgalls – Ionad Eileen Howell, as well as CEF Social/ Community Construction Project of the Year 2024 for Shankill Shared Women’s Centre. The business was first established in 1974 as Patrick McKaigue Building Contractors. A bricklayer by trade, Patrick has been involved in the industry from the late 1960s. Sub- contracting to main firms formed the bulk of the company’s early work. In 1987, the company took its first step into the world of mainstream contracting, following a successful

spell in private development. In 1993, the company became a partnership, P&K McKaigue Building Contractors, with the ‘K’ representing Patrick’s wife Kathleen. In April 2002, P&K McKaigue Building Contractors became a limited company. P&K purchased commercial land off the Glen Road at the bottom of the busy arterial route of the Glenshane Pass in 2016 and constructed new purpose-built offices to become a base of operations. On January 4, 2018, P&K took the historic step of moving into its new state-of-the-art offices including an expansive storage yard. P&K McKaigue has now been a member of the CEF for seven years, viewing membership as a natural progression for the business

and appreciating the benefits and opportunities it could bring. Since joining, the business has found the help and assistance offered by the CEF to be invaluable, while also creating a positive forum for dialogue with other contractors. Padraig McKaigue, Contracts Director, said, “Congratulations to CEF on its 80th anniversary, an impressive milestone to reach, and we wish the organisation every success over the years to come.”
