Message from Lifestyle David And just like that, another three months have passed. Time certainly seems to be flying by. Over the past few months, the Lifestyle team has been busy planning and introducing a range of new activities and experiences for all to enjoy.
Over the past month, we have introduced weekly buffet breakfasts within each community household, providing a relaxed and social way to start the day together. We have also recently purchased a pool table, which has quickly become a favourite activity for all who enjoy coming together for a friendly game. One of our recent highlights was a guessing game competition, where we asked all to guess “Who was Who?” from a selection of photos. This activity created plenty of conversation, laughter, and friendly competition. We also celebrated Australia Day and Waitangi Day together as a multicultural celebration, recognising and embracing the diverse cultures within our community. We had morning tea in the café, followed by Armchair Travel exploring Australia and New Zealand. The celebration also included a special performance by a New Zealand singer who performed the haka, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our weekly visits from the local kindy children continue to be a highlight. We have been enjoying cooking activities together, and everyone always looks forward to these visits. We are also excited to be visiting the kindy late March. We came together to celebrate Valentine’s Day, with plenty of smiles and happy faces throughout the day. There has also been lots of cooking activities taking place and we have been walking to the new local shops, giving all the opportunity to get out, enjoy some fresh air, and remain connected with the local community. We now have two greenhouses in the garden, with a wide variety of plants growing inside. All are warmly invited to come and explore the garden and enjoy the beautiful sunflowers that are thriving. Inside the greenhouse, you will also find a collection of orchids being carefully grown by one of our residents. While they are not flowering just yet, they are being well cared for and we look forward to seeing them bloom. We are also trying to grow poppies in the garden in preparation for ANZAC Day, creating a meaningful display to honour and remember those who served. David Lifestyle Coordinator
