City that never chills
Naples isn’t a city striving to be orderly or perfect. The sources of its energy are loud noise, rich history and cuisine that changed the world. Mopeds traverse the narrow streets of the old town as loud conversations unfold and la- undry hangs between balconies li - ke improvised flags of daily life. And yet, hidden behind that rhyt- hm is a city with a history that da - tes back more than two and a half thousand years. At the very heart of Naples is its historic core, which is under UNES - CO protection and boasts layers of architecture that alternate between the foundations of antiquity and ba- roque churches. Rising just a few ki - lometres away is the mighty volca - no of Vesuvius, which destroyed the ancient city of Pompeii in AD 79, le- aving behind what is today one of Europe’s most impressive archaeo- logical sites, which can be easily re - ached from Naples as a day trip de- stination. Views extend from the Port of Na - ples to the islands of the Bay of Naples – where you should explo - re the famous Capri, for example.
It naturally isn’t possible to even imagine Naples without pizza. It was here that the famous marg - herita pizza was created in the la - te 19 th century, as a simple com- bination of tomatoes, mozzarella and basil that
