RITAM GRADA / RHYTHM OF THE CITY
The streets of this neighbourhood were developed in the 19 th century and are today known for their cobblestones, galleries and views of the River Sava and New Belgrade opposite. Pink canopies today give this space a calming, almost meditative tone, but don’t let that fool you. Konasančić’s Wreath is home to many cafés and restaurants where you will spend an unforgettable time in Belgrade, with an even more beautiful view of the greenery and blossoming trees of the parks across the river.
In front of Takovska Street’s monumental building of the Central Post Office, representing one of the most recognisable examples of the Belgrade architecture of the first half of the 20 th century, spring brings unexpected contrast. The building was completed in 1938, according to the project of architect Momir Korunović, and its massive façade is today part of one of the city’s busiest intersections. When the nearby trees blossom, that authentic architecture receives a much gentler frame.
