2 5 . His Superabundant Love “Ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matt. 11:28). ; If you wear the livery of Christ, you will find Him so meek and lowly of heart that you will find rest unto your souls. When the wind blows. cold, He always takes the bleak side of the hill. The heaviest end of the cross lies ever on His shoulders . . . If there is anything that is grácious, generous, kind and tender, yea, lavish and superabundant in love, you always find it in Him. —Charles Haddon Spurgeon. 26. Again Rejoice “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” (Phil. 4:4). The i great composer Joseph Haydn was once reprimanded by some of the dignitaries of the churqh. His music, they charged, was far too lively, too, jolly, not in keeping with its sacred purposes. Haydn replied, “When I am writing sacred music I must be think ing of the Lord God and all that He has done for me. When I do that, my heart leaps with joy, and I do not know how to keep this out of my music.” —The Pilot. 27. “Nevertheless, Afterward” “No chastening for the present seem- eth to be joyous, but grievous: never theless, afterward it yieldeth the peace able fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby” (Heb. 12 : 11 ). How the heart yearns for the “day of:trouble” to pass away,- and the soul prays for deliverance! Yet God who is omniscient often lets trials remain for a time. He would have us rejoice in testings, because Christ is our Victor, and our extremities are His opportuni ties. The sun always seems to shine brighter after a few cloudy days than it would have had we had the sunshine all the time.—Allen Fast. 28. Now “Now is the accepted time” (2 Cor. 6 : 2 ). Lord, do it now, I pray—transforming me; In place of sin today, give, victory. Delivered from the body of this death, NoW let me find in Thee my life, pxy breath. The burdens borne so long, so need lessly, ; The frets, the nagging fears, all laid on Thee! Swift answers, Lord, ate Thine, no wait ing long. Today Thou mkkest mine a new, new song. —Bertha Gemeaux Wds.
