In our laboratory we develop and test new materials, innovative technologies and lens treatments, that represent the essence of Univet products, a synonim of design, performance and maximum protection.

Univet’s Test Center is an highly innovative laboratory with specialized technicians and sophisticated machinery. Inside the lab we run all the the endurance tests requiredby the international standards.

Anti-Fog Treatments in comparison Vanguard

Univet’s R&D Department has created two ultra performing lens treatments called Vanguard. Thanks to this technology the lenses won’t tarnish, allowing their use even in extreme conditions and guaranteeing maximum protection.

Vanguard ULTRA (UDC - Ultra Double Coating) it’s a specific and distinct double treatment, anti-scratch on the outer side and anti-fog on the inner side, with outstanding performance and K and N certification. This treatment is the best solution for the most adverse environments: in fact it grants limitless fogging properties and an unparalleled resistance to abrasion. Vanguard PLUS is an anti-scratch and anti-fog treatment, applied on both sides of the lenses, with K and N certification. This treatment guarantees anti-fogging properties 5 times greater than required by standard regulations and an abrasion resistance that is two times higher than the requirements of the EN166 norm.

Did you know that

Vanguard ultra performing treatments, Vanguard PLUS and Vanguard ULTRA, harden the surface of the lens for an outstanding scratch resistance while maintaining total transparency and increasing safety for the user.

In order to stress the anti-scratch qualities of the treatment, the EN 166 regulation requires 3 kg of quartz sand to be dropped from a height of 1.65 m on the lens and to subsequently check the delta in the luminance factor, which must not exceed the value of 5 Cd / Mq 2 x lux.

Filters the harmful blue radiation Blue Block

The Safety lens with Blue Block filter is designed to preserve the eyes well-being from harmful blue radiation emitted by notebooks, LED monitors, tablets and smartphones and by artificial LED lighting. This lens reduces visual fatigue and makes images sharper.

Did you know that

The blue light visible to human eye is produced by high frequencies (from 380nm to 450 nm) that are the most dangerous (HEV: highest energy visible). The Blue Block lens protects from a maximum of 50% of these frequencies (up to 420nm), if it blocked them totally it would not allow the vision of the blue color. Blue is a primary color and this would alter the color perception.

Blue light rays have a very high frequency, much greater than the solar UV rays. The blue light damages the back of the eye as much as the UV rays damage the front; for this reason it’s imperative to shield the eyes from this kind of rays. UV Filter

The lenses with Blue Block treatment can screen the eyes from blue and UV rays, improving contrast and visual comfort, as well as reducing glare and reflections on the lens. This treatment is also available on prescription glasses.

Maximum practicality of use for the corrective glasses line, which presents light and comfortable frames provided with graduated lenses, allowing people with sight impairments to work In total safety. Univet corrective devices are identified as II class PPE and are certified according to EN 166 regulation. The lenses are tailor made according to user’s preferences and needs, maintaining Univet’ “Made in Italy” style.

Dirty lenses can cause eyestrain due to forced focusing. Lens cleaning is a fundamental operation for vision and glasses maintenance that should be carried out daily.

If done in a wrong way, approximately or with improvised tools it can cause scratches and damages to the lenses and to the treatments. Follow the indications herebelow for a correct maintenance.

It is necessary to put the glasses or the mask under cold water* before each cleaning activity, in order to remove dust. Next dry the lens with a soft microfiber cloth

New Anti-Fog Cloth

The new high-quality microfiber Anti-Fog cloth (15x18cm) works efficiently on any lens coating and is reusable up to 200 times. Fog off! The cloth applies tensioactives substances to the lens (both sides) for an anti-fog effect that lasts 6-8 hours after application. Clear and clean the optical surface before every application and store the anti-fog cloth in a sealed bag.
