The Re-Entry Services program also introduced renovation, repair and painting, and lead abatement trainings in August. These programs train incarcerated persons for jobs in high demand in Allegheny County. They allow clients to become certified in these skills, which leads to opportunities for immediate employment upon release. Sixty-six people have received certifications since the program began in September.
VOTING This year, the county added a video to tablets and pod televisions that explains voting rights and how to register. If an incarcerated person is already registered, they can request an absentee ballot. The jail helped incarcerated persons vote by absentee ballot in conjunction with the Allegheny County Elections Department.
