Allegheny County 2022 Highlights Report

NEW PROGRAMS In 2022, the Parks Department added several new programs, including stand-up paddle boarding at the North Park swimming pool with SUP Yoda PGH, Full Psych Adventures and pickleball programs, such as Never Stop Playing Pickleball and Level Up Pickleball Camps, both at North Park. The Parks department also added Kidokinetics, an all-around sports fitness program for kids of all ages held at both South Park and Settlers Cabin Park. Parks Program Spotlights

PROGRAM GROWTH

Throughout 2022, Parks has witnessed an increase in program count, program-related net profit, and program attendance. Various programs and events contributed to these increases. The YMCA Summer Camps that take place in North Park, South Park, and Settlers Cabin Park saw a 32% increase in total revenue and a 21% increase in total attendance. Trail Adventures Mountain Biking held in North Park and Hartwood Acres Park saw a 32% increase in both total revenue and attendance. Free swimming lessons were also able to return following the COVID pandemic with a total attendance of 602 participants spread evenly across the county’s four pools.

PARK EVENTS

The Parks Department successfully organized and hosted several events in 2022. During the summer, the Allegheny County Wine and Spirits Festival was held at Hartwood Acres Park. The event had a total of 654 participants and a total revenue of $15,115. At the end of the pool season, the department held Pooches in the Pool at North Park Swimming Pool, Boyce Park Wave Pool, Settlers Cabin Wave Pool, and South Park Wave Pool. A total of 843 dogs and an estimated total of 1,951 participants attended across all four pools. During the fall, Hartwood Acres Park hosted the 6th Annual Punkin Chunkin with just over 1,200 participants throughout the day.
