Comfortability with Unpredictability

Suggested Strategy: Challenging the individual to embrace unpredictability, present them with a Risk Question to help clarify why being comfortable with unpredictability is important in their career.

Suggested Questions:

Î Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six representing a complete comfortability with unpredictability and one representing that you are entirely uncomfortable with it, where would you rate yourself and why?

Î Risk Question: What risks do you think you might mitigate by becoming comfortable with unpredictability?

Suggested Activities:

Î Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, ask the individual to describe how they currently feel about unpredictability, and how they currently handle it. On the right side of the board, write down what being comfortable with unpredictability looks like to this individual. Then, erase the left side of the board and brainstorm with the individual strategies that they can take in the future to become more comfortable with unpredictability. Î Brainstorming: List together unpredictable situations where the individual must become more comfortable. Build a strategy together for the individual to approach situations such as those and how they can prepare for unpredictability.
