Î Self-Directed Learning: Ask the person to come back to your next coaching session with three examples of actions taken throughout the week to embrace the development process and participate fully in it. How did their efforts launch them closer to reaching the goals discussed earlier in your coaching conversation?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds of your day to acknowledge specific actions taken by the individual to embrace the improvement process and participate fully. This is a great way to share positive feedback and reinforce their efforts without taking much time out of your day. Î Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the person you are coaching to keep a journal in the coming weeks to note times where they feel that the process is not moving forward as quickly as they want it to. What actions can they take in those situations to take a step back and reflect on why they will benefit from the process. How will they remind themselves of the goals they are working to reach when they feel this way in the future?
