their confidence in being natural in their relationships with others. After each practice conversation, ask the individual to share what they think they did well and what they might still want to practice further.
Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Tangible Successes: Assign your coaching target to come back to your next coaching session with three examples of situations where they felt that they were able to be natural, based on the definition from the beginning of this coaching session. What strategies did they implement in those situations? What actions did they take that they may not have taken previously? What was the observed outcome of their interaction? Was it different than previous interactions? Î Journal-Based Coaching: Ask your coaching target to keep a journal in the coming weeks as they practice their newly attained strategies and skills in being natural with others. They should track in their entries how they feel after their conversations, what they feel they are accomplishing and what has been successful, as well as what they still feel they may need practice or assistance on. Discuss their entries at your next coaching session.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î Observational Coaching: Have the individual observe the people around them both in the office and outside of it. What about those interactions between others seems natural, and what does not? What approaches do others take to their conversations and relationships that help them seem natural? What takeaways from their observations can the individual put into practice on their own as they practice building natural relationships and having natural conversations at work?
