Effective Communication as a Team
Suggested Strategy: This approach can be done in a group setting so that each member of the group is operating under the same definition and the expectation is the same across the entire team. Start with asking the team for their definition and continue the conversation from there.
Suggested Questions:
Î Define & Coach: When I say the phrase effective communication , what definition does that bring to mind as a team? Î Self-Actualized Question: What actions do you think we can take as a team to help us implement the definition of effective communication that we just described? Î Success Imperative: How will practicing effective communication bring our team to the highest level of achievable success?
Suggested Activities:
Î Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of the board, write down how the team would currently describe their communication with each other. Then, on the right side of the board, write down the team’s definition of effective communication that they will implement. Erase the left side of the board and write down the actions that the team suggests that they will take to reach the description on the right side of the board. Î Brainstorming: Create a strategy together of types of communication that will make the team effective communicators.
