Î Observational Coaching: The employee should observe the conversations that happen around them throughout the day. Keep a journal entry daily of what happened in the conversation, what the employee thinks was effective in the communication, and what they think could have been executed better and how they would improve the conversation. Bring the journal entries to the next coaching session.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
ΠJournal-Based Coaching: To keep track of employee’s engagement in coaching, ask them to keep a journal noting their observations from the above learning project, as well as noting their successes in maintaining effective communication with their peers. Π30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds out of your day to acknowledge a positive communication moment that you observed from the employee. Be specific in sharing your observations with your coaching target.
