Professional Development Confidence Building
Suggested Strategy: Sometimes employees need to have professional development opportunities provided to them/refreshed on their options. Allow them to see how professional development is tied to confidence with role plays and goal setting activities.
Suggested Questions:
Î Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six you feel you’re aware and have taken advantage of professional development opportunities, and one you feel like you don’t see the benefit and have rarely taken advantage of them, where would you rate yourself and why? Î Risk Question: What risk do you assume by not taking advantage of professional development opportunities to work on your confidence?
Suggested Activities:
Î GOAL-Based Coaching: Together, come up the employee’s goals and how they relate to confidence building. G stands for great, O for opportunity, A action, and L love. By drilling down how these are related to the overall goal of confidence, the employee will be able to see the relationship between goal setting and following through with activities that can support those goals. Then, come up with two specific professional development opportunities and how they relate to the overall goal of confidence building. Î Role Play: Practice the skills necessary to participate in professional development settings in order to have the most success with confidence building. Go over common scenarios, conversation tools they can use, and follow through after to build upon the information they learn in those professional development settings.
