Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Self-Directed Learning: Have the team come up with a list throughout the week of risks they might assume by not changing current behaviors to match the mutually agreed upon definition from your activity. In addition, they should write down ways they can ensure these risks are prevented. Î Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Have each member of the group practice with another team member that also needs to work on those skills. Peer work allows comradery, as well as skill building techniques that may not come to mind if the individual is working alone. This exercise also reinforces the shared definitions from the activities section.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î Video-Based Coaching: Send the team a video that gets at the heart of behaviors at work. This can be as funny or serious as you would like. This gets your team to think beyond themselves at least in the moment they’re watching the video, as well as after they’re done watching. Have them come to your next coaching session with one or two takeaways related to changes they can make to improve the team’s performance through their behavior. Î Non-Verbal Coaching: Write team members a note and leave it on their desk when you notice them exhibiting the behaviors and skills that were brainstormed in the activities section. Be specific in describing what they did, when, and why it was appreciated.
