Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Journal-Based Coaching: Have your coaching target keep track of weekly successes, challenges, and areas that can be avoided in terms of reception of employee feedback. Î Self-Directed Learning: Provide literature and data that discusses employee engagement for your coaching target to read throughout the week. They should continue to make connections between the reading materials and their own success through flexing their voice constructively.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î Observational Coaching: Ask your coaching target to observe their peers throughout the week as they flex their voices at work. In what ways are their peers successful in making sure their voice is heard, and how do they specifically do that? What takeaways from their observations can your coaching target implement in their own practices in using their voice to have their ideas or opinions be heard? Î Non-Verbal Coaching: Encourage the person you are coaching to continue to utilize their voice to make sure they are heard. Leave a handwritten note or card at their workstation when you see that they are making positive improvement in using their voice constructively. Be specific in sharing specific situations and actions taken by your coaching target in your note.
