Engagement Through Shared Goals
Suggested Strategy: To get everyone on the same page when it comes to engagement, come up with a shared set of goals to reach and make them meaningful to their everyday experiences at work.
Suggested Questions:
Î Define & Coach: What does success look like to you? Can we create a shared definition of engagement specific to that definition? Î Reflective Question: What motivates you? What things stand in the way of your motivation? Î Give your coaching target a few minutes to think about their answer to this question while you step out of the room to use the restroom, grab coffee, etc. Discuss their answer when you return.
Î Self-Actualized Question: What do you need from me to help embrace this engagement on all levels of our team?
Suggested Activities:
Î Brainstorming: You won’t know if you’ve made any change unless you keep track of it. An easy way to do this is to have a quarterly engagement study, but act upon those results with tangible activities and discussions germane to the areas that were highlighted in the results. Come up with a specific strategy together that will implement this idea. Î Follow Through: Come up with a weekly meeting schedule either online, in person, or a mix of the two, and weave engagement into daily interactions and activities. Have employees keep track of how often you facilitate those meetings, as well as rate the quality of those meetings for evaluation down the road.
