Suggested Learning Projects:

Î Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with a peer that you assign once per week to practice the new information retention strategies that you discussed in your whiteboard activity. The discussion between the peers should cover how the employee you are coaching feels they are progressing in retaining new information and what actions they have taken to improve upon that. They should practice their strategies with their peer and have their peer give them feedback, both positive and constructive. Ask the person you are coaching to email you, copying the peer that they practiced with, and let you know any improvements they are noticing as well as anything new that they learned in the session with their peer. Î Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the employee you are coaching to keep a running journal throughout the coming weeks with entries noting times throughout their workday where they felt that they were able to quickly recall information previously learned. What strategy did they take in that situation and how effective did they feel it was?

Supplemental Coaching Strategies:

Î 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds to verbally acknowledge improvements made by the individual in their retention of information and using it in a practical application. Be specific in sharing your observations of actions taken by the employee to put what they have learned into practice, and how their actions will benefit both the individual and the team.
