Participation in Organization’s Activities

Suggested Strategy: Ask a Rating Question to set the individual’s sights on analyzing their own behavior. Using a Third-Party Question, help bring awareness to how the team might interpret the actions of the person you are coaching.

Suggested Questions:

Î Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six representing that you participate in all organizational team-building activities as a positive leader and one representing that you refuse to participate in team-building activities in the organization, where would you rate yourself and why? Î Third-Party Question: How do you think the team would describe your participation as a leader in organizational team-building events? Î Self-Actualized Question: What actions do you think you must take as a leader to use your participation in organizational activities as a source for boosting team morale?

Suggested Activities:

Î Whiteboard Coaching: On the left side of a whiteboard, write down how the individual would describe their current impact on the team’s morale by their current level of participation and enthusiasm in organizational activities. On the right side of the board, write down how the individual would describe the ideal participation by a team leader in organizational activities. Then, erase the left side of the board and work with the individual to create a list of actions that the individual will take to reach that description on the right side of the board. Ask them to explain the team benefits that might come about as a result of the individual’s future actions.
